Built from Experience,
Driven by Purpose.

HugLoom isn't just an app. It's the community our founder wished he had when he was navigating the hardest chapter of his life.

At just 15 years old, while most of his peers were worrying about homework and high school sports, Matthew Kobilan was beginning a journey that would change his life forever. For 3.5 years, Matthew served as the primary caretaker for his father, who was battling Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS).

The experience was as beautiful as it was exhausting. Between the sleepless nights and the complex medical needs, Matthew saw firsthand the isolation that comes with caregiving. He searched for a place where he could connect with others who understood the unique weight of caring for a loved one with a terminal illness, but the market was empty.

A Growing Need in America

"I looked around and saw millions of family caregivers in America doing the same thing I was—sacrificing their time, their youth, and their mental health for the people they loved. Yet, there was no dedicated space for us to find support, share resources, or simply feel seen."

— Matthew Kobilan, Founder

Driven by the memory of his father and a desire to help the growing number of family caregivers, Matthew decided to build HugLoom. His vision was clear: to create a niche social media platform specifically designed for the caregiver experience.

Today, HugLoom is that vision come to life. It's a place where caregiving stories are shared, where practical advice is exchanged, and where no one has to walk the path of caregiving alone.
